Players were able to start with Pikachu and have it follow their avatar (just like Ash in the anime), they were able to catch all the other starters without having to trade with friends, and they were able to play a slightly tweaked version of the first gen games where the story was more embellished, bugs were fixed, and Charizard could finally learn FLY.
